Dear Navigators,
ReplyDeleteLast summer my favorite young adult novel was the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (actually I was enthralled by the whole trilogy). This summer my favorite novel was The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, which is also a science fiction trilogy. I was impressed with the story line of the novel. At first I thought it was going to be your typical "girl meets boy", "girl and boy get into fight", and "girl and boy make up". I was very pleasantly wrong. Now I can't wait to read the next novel in the trilogy - The Pretties.
I am looking forward to reading about your favorite novels. Often I use this information to choose my next novel.
Thank you for sharing!

This summer I had a book club with my grandma and my mom. We each read a Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door,a Swiftly Tilting Planet and I am planning to read the fourth book. All of them were part of a series. My favorite book though was the thirdbook: A swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeline Lengle. In this science fiction book the main character Charles Wallace goes back in time to change crucial moments in order to stop an evil villan in the present time. Time though is running out and he only has one night to change the future and fait of the world. This book is a thrilling story that helps you learn more about good desicion making, faith, courage and friendship. I love that you never know what is going to happen next and what Charles Wallace's next move might be. I like the suspense and intense moments that make you want to keep reading.

My favorite book is Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, the second in the Hunger Games trilogy. This book was entrancing because of the details, description, and plot twists. I was expecting this book to be equally as amazing as or worse than the first book in the series, but it was actually better! In the Hunger Games the start was slow but it was only slow for about a chapter. Whereas in Catching Fire it didn’t speed up until about the fifth chapter, but that was okay because somehow the story still hooked you in tightly and kept you interested without all the events most stories need to keep up with your fast growing mind. I am trying to finish Mockingjay (the third book in the trilogy) but I have a bad habit of not setting enough time aside for just my personal reading. I am very excited about getting book recommendations from others with this assignment. I would recommend this trilogy to anyone with enough patience to last through the beginnings and the cravings for some great literature!

My favorite Novel is, after much thought and consideration, Artemis Fowl:the Atlantis Complex by Eoin Colfer. (a sci-fy/fantasy novel)It really develops Artemis' overall character, and it doesn't have a perfect ending. People/fairies die, and there's nothing they can do about it. Artemis may never be completely cured of his disease, and there's nothing they can do about it. And, it ends with a question that really makes you mad. What happens next? How do they go from there? Its the seventh book in a series, and i would recommend it to someone looking for something that they most definitely cannot put down, even after they've finished it. it also comes with an English-based language that you can learn called Gnomish! Though you'd have to get really obsessed with the series to do that, hehe... But it really is an amazing book/series! You should check it out sometime.

My favorite book is The Sun of Neptune, the second book in the series Heroes Of Olympus by Rick Riordan. I love fantasy books and this is one of my all-time favorites. :) I love the plot twists, the personalities and mysterious past of characters, and the cliffhangers. I couldn't put the book down, I always wanted to read more. I also like how Rick Riordan intertwines Greek and Roman mythology into the books, I've definitely learned alot about Greek/Roman mythology since reading these books. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and fantasy books. I cannot wait until the 3rd book in the series comes out on October 2nd!

My favorite book is Scorpia Rising from the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. The genre of the book is spy fiction. As with every book in the series, this book is very exciting and you just keep flipping pages till the end. The end is not perfect as Alex's legal guardian dies and it leaves you wondering what will happen next. She basically acted like a big sister to him when his uncle died. Even before Alex's uncle died, his mom and dad died in a airplane crash. I was disappointed that this book was the last book in the series because there's no more to read. If you're looking for a book to read I definitely recommend Scorpia Rising. Although you can read just the book it makes more sense to start from the beginning

My favorite novel is The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. It is from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The genre of this book is fiction. This is my favorite novel because the author vividly describes each scene so you can see it in your mind. It also builds suspense to the climax. Whenever I read this book, I always wish they made a movie of it so I could see if my visualization was right or wrong. This book is great to read if you like action/adventure plots.

This summer I read the lying game series. I first heard about this book on TV because the made a TV show about it. I started to watch the show (it was really good). Then I went to the book store and I saw it on the shelf so I bought it. I finished it in about 2 days. The book is about this girl Emma who finds she has a twin sister. Emma reaches out to her sister Sutton on facebook and Sutton replies back saying she was adopted. So Sutton tells Emma to come to Arizona so they can meet. Little did Emma know but her sister had been killed. And Emma gets a note saying “keep being Sutton or u r next”. So Emma has to keep playing along and tell no one. But Emma tells this boy Ethan and knows he is in danger to. At first Emma thinks its Suttons sister who did it but it was not. Then Emma thinks its Suttons dad. There are five books in the serious, and I have read 4. So that was the book I read over the summer

This summer I read The Life of Pi. This book is about a boy whose father is a zoo owner. The boy named Pi has to move and so does the zoo. So they go onto a big cargo ship to move, and somewhere along the way the ship sinks. Pi is put on a boat with a zebra with a broken leg, a hyena, a female orangutan, and a Bengal tiger. Pi must learn how to survive with these wild animals. This is an adventure story with survival and it is a great book for more advanced readers.

My favorite summer read would have to be Bud not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. It's about a black orphan who goes on the lam to find his father. His fate leads him to many other places that aren't what he's looking for. It's a fictional piece and I like it because it's surprisingly engaging and fun to read. I would recommend it to anyone. I'm usually not interested in this type of genre, but I decided to try it, and I couldn't put it down.

My favorite book is The Hunger Games, because it has a lot of exciting parts so your always on your toes. I also like it because even when it's not at an exciting or action part, it still has a good story. I'm in the middle of Catching Fire (the second book) and it's great so far, it's very different than the first one but still follows the same concept. I really enjoy the series and the movie and I can't wait to read the third book Mockingjay.

DeleteMy favorite Novel is Mockingjay By Suzanne Collins. Actually I really enjoy the whole trilogy, but my favorite is the last because it is the most suspenseful and has a cool rebel theme. I like the whole series because reading about someone’s idea about the future and comparing it to the present is fascinating. The genre if this book is Dystopian, which means an imaginary place where life is as worse as it gets. This kind of novel keeps me up late reading and I just cant put it down. I recommend these amazing books.

DeleteMy favorite books are The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. It's genre is realistic fiction. The books are about 3 orphans that are siblings and are trying to escape from there new guardian (Count Olaf). He treats them bad and they escape but Count Olaf is always trying to find them. I like these books because they are funny in some parts, is well written, and has a good word choice. The setting, characters and plot don’t change frequently and are easy to follow. Another thing I like about this series is that the books get better in subsequent series.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend you read these books if you haven’t already.

My favorite Novel is called Out of My Mind and it’s written by Sharon M. Draper. This story is realistic fiction, (which is personally my favorite genre!). This story is about a girl who has Cerebral Palsy and is just trying to fit in and learn new things, yet it is very hard for her because she can’t talk, walk, or write. And not until her recent school years, she finds a way to communicate her feelings, words, and actions. Though, little did she know, by doing this she was becoming a stronger, more confident person. What makes this my favorite story is the theme or moral which is that there is always hope, if you never stop believing in yourself you can accomplish anything. That theme is one of my biggest believes, if you set your mind on something, are passionate about it, and believe you can accomplish it, then anything can happen!

‘’Black Beauty’’ by Anna Sewell is my favorite fiction novel. This book is my favorite novel because I really liked how it shows life from a horse’s perspective. It also shows how a horse can go to many different familys but, not all of them are the same. Some familys treated the horse really bad and some really cared about him.

My favorite novel is “ Karate Kid “ and the
ReplyDeleteauthor of this book is Matt Christopher.
The genre of the novel is a sports fiction.
This is my favorite book because he shows
that it can be easy to earn something just as
long as you set your mind to it. He also
shows that sometimes when friends
are frustrating you just have to push throw
it and now that they are just trying to help.

My favorite novel is a book I read this summer is, called Juniper Berry: A Tale of Terror and Temptation, by M.P. Kozlowsky. This book's genre is horror and fantasy.
ReplyDeleteThis book is my favorite novel, because of the mood and the way it is written. This novel has a very dark, creepy mood. The story is about an 11 year old girl and her friend who discover an underworld ruled by a creature who feeds on temptation. I think the author does a great job of keeping the feeling dark and clever. This book is also very well-written, and slightly addictive. Kozlowsky is just overall an amazing writer. This book was his debut novel, and it left me hooked since the very last page.

ReplyDeleteThe Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is by far my favorite novel. It is so rich in detail and Collins did a great job describing the characters and her vision of the future. The settings are so real in the way that Collins described them. The Hunger Games is Science Fiction and Dystopian which means is that it is an imaginary place were everyday life is as bad as it gets. The Hunger Games kept me intrigued until the very end until I was begging her for the rest of the trilogy which I also enjoyed.

All the daughters were born famous and at fist they don’t like it because people expect them to take after there parents and want to be friends with them. I liked the book because the characters seemed really believable and like they truly might have been famous. There were three main characters in the first through third books then the author decided create another character!
