ReplyDeleteThe score was 6-6 in the bottom of the 9th inning. There were two outs with a runner on first base. The runner's name was Alex. He knew he had to get to second base in order for him to get in scoring position.
ReplyDeleteThe pitcher went into the wind up. Alex bolted for second.
"He's going!" All of the infielders screamed. Pop! The ball hit the catcher's glove, and a second later he was gunning the ball to second. Alex dove for the bag. The shorstop caught the ball ready to tag the runner. Alex slid into second. The shortstop tagged Alex.
"He's Safe!" The umpire roared. Alex had got in just in time.
"Yes," Alex whispered to himself. Next pitch his teamate Bradley hit a shot to the left field gap scoring Alex. It was a walk-off win!

Amy lay in her warm bed, feeling more sick than she had in months. She wished that she would have been able to enjoy the nice Saturday outside in the sun, but instead she had to suffer a 24 hour flu with a thermometer in her mouth and a box of kleenex at her side. Amy yelled as loud as she could through her scratchy voice, "Mom, will you please make me some Clam Chowder?"
ReplyDelete"Yes, Amy. Give me a few minutes," her mom replied.
Amy found herself dosing off. She suddenly awoke as her mom slowly walked into her bedroom with the soup.
"Thank you, mom," Amy quietly said as her mom handed her the soup.
"Your welcome... Now please get better!"

Derp and Derpina were sitting on the railroad tracks talking about the football game on friday. The Hubba-Bubba Hedghogs won to the Kingdoms Kingly Crowns 25-20. This was their usual place after school-the abandoned railroad.
ReplyDelete"That was a close game," Derp said.
"Yes," replied Derpina, "at least we won by 5 points."
Derp pulled a football out of his bag and said, "Let's play catch."
They passed the ball around for a while, but they were getting bored.
"I wish there was a train still running on these tracks, so we could get around faster," Derpina said.
They passed the ball around some more until they heard some rumbling.
Derp yelled, "Earthquake!" and both of them dropped to the ground on the tracks. Sadly, it was not an earthquake, but Derpina's wish had came true. There was a mighty bullet train zooming down the tracks and could not stop. Suddenly, the sky turned dark and the train exploded.
"Well that was exciting," Derp said.
"At least we didn't get run over," Derpina replied.
After that, they kept on playing football like nothing had happened.

It was a perfect Saturday evening at the lake. Amy watched her little sister, Ellie, and her brother, Josh while they tried to catch fish.
ReplyDelete" Can I go swimming in the lake?", said Ellie.
" Not today Ellie, it's getting cold, we should head back to the camp site", said Amy. So the siblings went back to their campsite and enjoyed the warmth from the camp fire. They roasted s'mores as the stars began to shine down on them.

Hannah was in bed sick, she felt miserable. She wanted to go to her best friends play but she had a fever of 101°. Her best friend Katy was going to pick her up to go to the play, what was she going to tell her friend? Ding dong, the door bell rang, Hannah’s friend was here. Her mom opened the door, “why hello Katy, Hannah is in the other room you can go see her. Katy walked over to the room Hannah was in, “hello?” Hannah asked in a weak voice. “oh my gosh” Katy said, what she saw made her want to run away, her friend was in a horrible wreck, her face was tomato red, with a thermometer in her mouth and medicine was on her bedside. “I know I look horrible, I feel horrible as well. Um I can’t really go to um your play, I feel really bad, and I hope you do well, I was going to tell you but…” Hannah didn't finish, she saw Katy break into a huge grin she said, “Remember we swore that whatever situation we are in we will still be friends? Well you are still my friend, maybe you can’t see my play, but that’s not the last play I will be in, besides you need to get well. It’s truly fine, get some rest and I’ll see you later Hannah.” With that Katy left and went to her play alone

On a sunny day in a forest in western Oregon, a girl, Madeleine, talks with her friend, Alex, as they sit on train tracks no longer in use. Madeleine says, “How do you want to escape?” Alex responds, “We can follow the train tracks until we get out of the forest.” “Okay, then lets get a move on before dusk,” Madeleine replies back. They walk ten miles and find a small town. Alex says, “Let’s see where we can check in for the night and get some sleep.” They walk up to a motel and ask for a room. The person at the front desk gives them a room key. When they walk in, they fall into a pit of lava, but wake up at the University of Oregon. It was all just a dream and they continue on with their day.

As the sun rose over the quiet lake, The two children peered over the beauty. "What does it all mean? Life and all" Asked the girl. " I don't even know, But its sure is wonderful" Replied the boy as a somewhat larger grin appeared on his face. The fishing pole jerked suddenly and the boy reacted slowly, but cautiously to not lose the fish. He slowly relied the line in until the fish appeared on the surface. He took the fish off the hook and carefully put it back in the water and watched it gracefully swim away. "Life is such a fragile thing, I would hate to see it go" Said the boy, now staring at the bright rays of sun settling on the water. "Thats so true" Smiled the little girl. The boy joined her with a smile, And together they continued to take in the fresh air, the sun rising, and...Life

It was a beautiful day. The sky was blue and the birds were chirping. But the only reason Savannah Silver knew this was because of the window in her hospital room. Today she felt much less faint, much better than the day before.
ReplyDelete"Savannah", a woman's voice asked, it was Mrs. Silver.
Savannah looked up but couldn't raise her head too much after the injury.
"Hi mom", she replied, faintly and tried to smile but couldn't lift her head up any longer. Her mother walked toward her and looked over her crippled body, knowing it was all her fault, and began to sob.
She sobbed and said "I'm so sorry,"
She cried held her head in her hands, "I'm sorry."
Savannah looked at her mom above her, then turned away. When she saw gray clouds, a tear ran down her cheek.

Not a single soul was on the lake that day, just the two kids, brother and sister. They were stranded on an island with just a fishing pole and some wood. How they got stranded there, they dont know. They are too young to know how to get a fire going so all they have is raw fish to eat, if they even catch any.
ReplyDelete"How do we get out of here?" the girl questioned.
"I have no clue." the young boy said.
"How long have we been here?" the girl started to sob. "When will we get to see our parents again?" she asked.
"We have only been here for one night, but we need to find a way off of this island." the boy started to wander off.
He goes to the other side of the island, sees some houses on the other side of the lake.
"Hey come come over here Sarah! I see some houses!"
Sarah comes racing over. "Wow Billy that one looks like our's," she started to cry again.
"Holy cow that is our house!" the boy cried.
"Look there is a raft floating towards us." Sarah cried. They pondered on how to get it. Billy finally stepped up and said, "I will swim out to get it."
"Be careful!" Sarah yelled. Billy was knee deep into the water when he felt a searing pain on his foot. A roch had just cut his foot. He knew he had to get to the raft though. He swam and swam until he got to it. He crawled into it and started to paddle with his hand oer to the island to get his sister.
"I'm almost there!" he yelled to his sister. for some reason he felt he was not alone on the boat. His sister had a terrifyed look on her face, he turned around and saw a large black figure sitting there with him.

ReplyDelete"But, who would be out on the track?!"
"Better start and see," he snickered.
Lucy glared but nodded. So the next morning she woke up bright and early and started down the track. She looked around hoping someone would at least show their face but no one did.
She began calling out "Hello? Hello?" waiting to hear a response but there was only silence.
After about an hour, she guessed, she collapsed on the track. She was tired and her heart felt heavy. She started to feel dizzy when she remembered something her mom once said.
"If you really want something never give up trying until it is physically and mentally impossible."
With that Lucy stood up and took a deep breath and with all her lung power she called out one more time as loud as she could "Hello?!"
Then she heard a voice and saw a figure up ahead.
"Hey my name is Jimmy, I work on fixing the tracks and I heard your voice so I came to what was wrong.
Lucy blushed and began to explain to Jimmy.
"Wow, sounds like you've been walking far. Here let's take a break."
Then Lucy and Jimmy sat down and began to build a long lasting friendship on the railroad track.

“So, what do you want to do tomorrow? I mean, we could go the Laser show, or that new movie, or...” Robby trailed off, the question hanging in the air.
ReplyDelete“Well a movie would be kinda awkward, ‘cause people might think it’s a date, and… you stuff,” Anya was sure she was blushing. In all honesty, she would love to go on a date with Robby. She loved his quirky little smile, his cute way of turning anything mean into a joke, and, well, everything about him. He was perfect!
He coughed, and rubbed the back of his neck. “Well, m-maybe… maybe I-it could be?... I mean…um… if-if you want to…”
WHAT? Is-is he blushing?!? Oh my god! He wants to go out with me? Yes! Yes! YES!!!
“Well…” She started, but then she heard something in the background… was that a train?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh crud! Anya jumped up, and started to make for the side of the tracks, but stopped and turned.
“Robby! Come on! A train’s coming!” He was jerking his leg, but it wouldn’t move. “Come on!!!”
“I Can’t! My skinnies are caught! And I can’t get them free!” His leg wasn’t moving….
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWOWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
“ROBBY! IT’S RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! COME ON!” She screeched. Anya made to help him, but he looked at her, with defeat in his eyes, and put his hand up.
“Anya, my skinnies aren’t coming loose any time soon, and I don’t want you to die,” He said it so calmly, with such resignation, that she hesitated.
“Anya, I-“
The train cut him off, crashing into his body, and what was left.
There was blood everywhere. Everything suddenly became surreal. He can’t be dead. She had been talking to him only two minutes ago. No no nO NO!
Anya screamed with rage, pain, all the anguish came rushing at her, and Anya collapsed, into a sobbing, shaking mess.
She didn’t respond when the police showed up.
She didn’t respond when they wiped the blood off her body.
She didn’t respond when they asked her what happened.
Eventually, they pieced it together. The committee had approved an off-schedule freighter the day before, and that ‘stupid teenager’ hadn’t known about it.
And then, so clearly you could almost hear it, Anya snapped.
She got up, walked over and picked up Robby’s pocket knife. It was slightly twisted, and covered with blood.
She walked over to the police man that had called Robby the ‘stupid teenager with no sense’.
“Mr. Police-man sir?”
“Yes?”

It was a chilly and pouring fall evening and Hugo was wandering down the line of the railroad tracks. He didn’t know how long he had been walking, or why he had left his warm house too come outside, where the autumn rain stung his cheeks. As he walked he saw a figure up ahead, coming towards him. His first instinct was to run, but he didn’t. Oddly enough, Hugo just stood there, wondering why someone else would be outside in this weather. Especially because it was almost dark. He ended up running towards the figure. When he reached the person he realized it was a girl with dark, bedraggled hair. She looked about fifteen, which was Hugo’s age.
ReplyDelete“Who are you?” he asked.
“My name’s Chloe.” The mysterious girl replied, “Who are you?”
“Hugo.”
“Well Hugo, what are you doing out here in the rain?” Chloe asked in a friendly tone.
“I could ask you the same thing!” Hugo replied.
“Well, I came to get away. I don’t know why, I just sometimes feel that my life is too complicated. That’s when I decide to walk on the tracks.” She replied, sitting down on the ground with a sigh.
“So I take it you’ve been here before?” Hugo asked. He sat down across from her and stared into Chloe’s eyes. They were a piercing blue, and they greatly contrasted with the dark sky behind her. “Do you come here often?”
“Every time I feel overwhelmed or lonely, I just walk a little farther down the track. I don’t know why.”
“Have trains ever come by?”
“Not that I know of.” Chloe answered.
For a whole they just sat there, occasionally talking and telling each other about their lives, their families. Suddenly, Hugo looked up. There was a bright light coming towards them and a loud noise following it.
“Chloe, we need to get out of here! Now!” Hugo screamed, yanking Chloe’s arm.
Chloe got up, looking confused. When she saw the train, she just stood there, as still as a statue. Hugo finally got her out of the way just in time. The train sped by and blew the kids backwards. Chloe grabbed onto Hugo and started crying.
“I almost got you killed!” She sobbed.
“Don’t cry,” Hugo said, comforting her. “It’s not your fault.”
Chloe wiped away her tears and hugged him and whispered, “Thank you.”

ReplyDelete"STRIKE ONE!" the umpire exclaimed.
I gave him 'oh thanks I didn't know' face, full of sarcasm. I was the hot head on my team.
The same sequence repeated again. Except on the third hit, well it went something like this.
The pitcher does the weird nods, he throws the ball. Again I close my eyes and swing as ever hard as I could. This time was the time. The ball went way out of the park! It was crazy! As the crowd went wild I moon walked to each base, just to rub it in there faces. If there's anything more than I love than being a hot head it's rubbing my victory's in my opponents faces. When I was moon walking to each base the kids were saying stuff to me like,
"Dude it's not that big of a deal!"
Then of course I said, "Oh, but it is!"
When I wasn't paying attention one of the guys tripped me as I was going past him.
I yelled back at him, "Oh I'm sorry, are my skills to awesome for you?"
Of course that made my team crack up and fall on the ground laughing so hard. That was a great victory, can't wait for our next!

It was a warm, July day on Wammpannoa lake. The sun was shining in the cloudless, blue sky. Peter and his younger sister, Penelope, were sitting in chairs on the bank of the lake, a fishing pole planted in the soft, white sand in between the two chairs. They had promised their dad the biggist fish he had ever seen, and now were suffering under the hot sun because of it. "Come on Peter," Penelope wailed."We've been here for 3 hours and haven't got so much as a nibble. I'm getting burned to a crisp. I want to go HOME!"
ReplyDeletePeter groaned. He couldn't decide what was worse, getting burned to a crisp in the 102F weather or having to put up with his little sister. Granted she was only five and was a GIRL, it was her tendancy to complain. He was so glad that he was 4 years older and able to put up with certian things that Penelope's brain demanded to whine about. "Shut up Penelope!" Peter demanded."I promised dad a big fish and i'm not leaving this lake until I get one. Do you want supper or not?"
"But..."
"No buts, we are getting that fish."
As soon as they settled into their chairs again, there was a mammoth tug in the line. Peter sprung up out of his chair and grabbed the rod. The force on the other end nearly pulled him in. Using all the force his scrawny legs could muster, he hauled himself back towards the chairs. "Penelope, come help me reel it in. It feels like the one!"
Penelope jumped out of her chair and joined Peter on the line. Together, they managed to haul the fish in. When it flopped onto the beach, they both ogled at it. It was the biggest fish they'ed ever seen. It was at least two feet long and weighed about ten pounds. "WHOOOO!!" Peter yelled in triumph, his voice echoing across the lake." We did it Penelope!"
Peter hoisted the two chairs onto his sholder along with the fishing rod. When they got home, they proudly presented the fish to their dad who said, "wow, what a catch!"
Peter beamed from ear to ear. That is until he walked into the house and saw a fish identical to the fish he had just caught, but 5 times bigger, mounted on the wall.

It was a beautiful day! The sun was shining bright and the lake was reflecting the sun like a mirror. Sophie was hypnotized to the shinning water.
ReplyDelete"Look, there is a fish," exclaimed Sophie!
"I see it! It is coming near the bait," replied David.
The large fish was biting on the bait! David tried really hard to pull the fish out of the water, but it seemed like the hook was edged into a huge boulder! David started off standing straight and then ended up falling in the lake! Sophie watched the large fish slip away and saw a small fish after the large fish left.
As David was getting out of the water, the small fish was nibbling on the bait. He yanked the line quickly and the fish flew to land. Both David and Sophie held the small fish and looked at it. Then they let it go and watched it freely swim away.
"I can't believe I caught a fish," David voiced, “but then I let it go."
"You did catch a fish, but the lake caught you and then let you go," Sophie said laughing!

ReplyDeleteScout lay awake, cuddled beneath her striped sheets. The thermometer lay in her mouth, and the temperature did not seem to be getting any better. She reached down to grab a Kleenex, but came to find that she had used up the entire box, and the garbage can next to her bed was overflowing, though Scout was too miserable to reach down and pick up the mess.
"Mom!" she moaned over, and over again, until she finally heard her mothers footsteps climbing up the stairs.

"What?" her mother asked, as she opened the bedroom door.
"Can you get me some Kleenex, and chicken noodle soup?" asked Scout. Her mother looked at her as if Scout was missing something.
"Please?" added Scout, her mother smiled..
"That's better," she said. "I'll go get the Kleenex, but will have to finish up my work before I can make you soup."
"Sure, that's fine, thanks mom."
"I'll be back in a minute," her mom said as she walked out of the room, quietly closing the door behind her.

ReplyDeleteGeorge and Lina were fishing at the pond when.
"I got one I got one!" shouted George.
"Quickly real it in!" exclaimed Lina.
The two were eager and wanted to see what type of fish they had captured. As the pull was getting stronger they were about to give up when the object came flying out the water zooming by so fast the couldn't identify it.
"What was that!" George shouted.
Lina sat there with a confused look on her face and her mouth opened. Though the battle was not over yet the pull came back when Lina began to tap on Georges shoulder
"George!" Lina yelled.
Ignoring his sister he reeled in the object to discover what he eagerly worked hard to obtain.
"Oh great!" said George.
"I tried to tell you." said Lina
"Its a boot!"
Lina approached George to try to comfort him but he snorted and ran to the hill which was above them and sat on it in anger. After about 5 minutes Lina came up to see how George was. George was cross and didn't want to talk to Lina. Lina pulled up a white bucket splattered with dirt and showed it to George. George looked inside and saw a beautiful salmon with sun drenched scales and he just sat there and smiled.
